At our medical clinic, we like to think of ourselves as “Band-Aid-free.” No, it’s not because we don’t have any Band-Aids—we actually have an impressive array of colorful, fun Band-Aids (think unicorns, superheroes, and sparkles). But here’s the funny thing: we never really get to use them.
Why? Because our Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB) procedure is so minimally invasive, the need for a Band-Aid just doesn’t come up. In fact, we’re so proud of how little discomfort our patients feel that we’re happy to report that no one really “bleeds” at our clinic. Our needles are tiny, designed to cause only the most minor sensation—a slight prick, much like getting an immunization shot.
For many people seeking treatment for PTSD, anxiety, Long COVID, or concussion symptoms, the idea of needles or injections can be intimidating. But here’s the truth: most patients are amazed at how quick and easy the SGB procedure is. After all, the point of our care is to provide relief from trauma, not create more.
That’s why we can’t help but smile every time we pull out our stash of fun Band-Aids. We get excited about them, knowing they’re a cute backup for when they’re actually needed—for paper cuts, bumps, or scrapes that happen outside of the clinic. But when it comes to the Stellate Ganglion Block, the only thing that’s “tough” is the positive impact it can have on your mental health.
No Band-Aids Here: How Our Stellate Ganglion Block Procedure is Almost Pain-Free
At our clinic, we pride ourselves on being not your typical doctor’s office. When you walk through our doors, you’ll notice something different. We’re not about rushing through appointments or adding unnecessary stress to your visit. In fact, we take the time to make sure you feel heard, comfortable, and informed.
This approach is especially important when it comes to our SGB procedure. We know that medical procedures—especially those involving needles—can be intimidating. That’s why Dr. Jim Lynch takes his time (typically about 45 minutes) with each patient. He explains exactly what will happen during the procedure, answers all your questions, and shares the lessons he’s learned from performing SGB for over a decade.
The goal is simple: to help you feel at ease. Dr. Lynch performs the SGB in a relaxed, comfortable environment. There’s no gurney to wheel you around on, no sedation, and no scary surgical lights. You can wear whatever clothes make you feel comfortable (except for turtlenecks—those can get in the way), and your family or even your service dog can be with you throughout the procedure if you’d like. You’re in control.
The procedure itself takes less than 10 minutes. While Dr. Lynch carefully performs the ultrasound-guided SGB at two levels, he stays in conversation with you to ensure everything feels okay. You can breathe normally, swallow comfortably, and even talk if you wish. Most importantly, you don’t need to hold perfectly still—just relax, and let the process unfold. If you ever need to take a break, we’re here for you, though this rarely happens because most people find the procedure incredibly easy.
We’re proud that our patients walk out feeling better, not with a bandaged-up neck, but with a renewed sense of hope and healing. Our mission is always to ensure comfort, compassion, and—above all—results.
And for us, that means no Band-Aids required.
So, while our Band-Aids sit unused, we’re proud of the real healing happening at our clinic.
Calm the body. Calm the mind.
